The LGBTQ+ Caucus gives thanks for all those who were willing to stand for election for President of our Episcopal Church’s House of Deputies and applauds the election today of Julia Ayala Harris to succeed Gay Clark Jennings … whose shoes will indeed be very hard to fill. We echo the president-elect’s words of thanks to President Jennings for her decades of “work for justice, for inclusion and for Jesus” — work that we are convinced will continue under soon-to-be President Ayala Harris’s leadership.

President-elect Ayala Harris was the endorsed candidate of the Caucus and we look forward to working with her in the days, months and years ahead to continue to make the full inclusion of LGBTQ+ people in the work and witness of the Episcopal Church not just a resolution we pass but a reality we live.

Almighty and everliving God, source of all wisdom and understanding, be present with those who take counsel for the renewal and mission of your Church … especially our House of Deputies and their President-elect. Teach us in all things to seek first your honor and glory. Guide us to perceive what is right, and grant us both the courage to pursue it and the grace to accomplish it; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
